Poem;
Life could get better;

I feel like I'm drowning,
This emptiness surrounding me,
It's suffocating.

I have always felt something-
That you were never noticing me,
Never looking this way.

Each and everyday,
I am surrounded by whispers and plastic smiles;
so much so
That I'm used to it-
So much that it hurts.

I can pretend I never knew.
The petals on the flower of truth are falling,
So slow hardly anyone notices it.

Life is a lie,
And I'm all alone
I can't figure out what's a lie
and what's not.

The truth comes and goes;
like the teardrops that evaporate off my magazine
in the convenience store,
or contrails passing by

I'm just hoping that I can see the truth,
even if only for a little while,
and it'll poke it's head round the door to my world;
just for me to know that it's there

For now, I only have my wall
My partner, my comrade, my best friend
And We'll stand here,
together.
And We'll always be here,
Waiting for the truth to appear

My impression of the lonely boy and the other children
My impression of the boy is that he may have come from a broken family or had a traumatic experience and has social-phobia, and ostracising himself on purpose. I think that if this is the case he may be protecting himself emotionally by creating a barrier around himself and not letting anything that could harm him in. He might be afraid that if he makes friends they might see his weak spots and hate him or worse, "attack" him.
However, he still has the urge to play with everyone. I know that because he keeps coming to the playground and looks at the other children enviously but does not dare to play with them and stays at the wall so as to not walk out of 'comfort zone' which is the wall.
I also feel that he is very determined boy, to live by his morals, he is determined not to move from his spot. He does everything possible to cure his boredom like draw patterns with his feet and hitting the bricks untill he felt numb and does not leave his spot.
---
My impression of the children is that they are not very compassionate people. Normally, if children saw another child unhappy or alone, they would go up and help them or ask them what was wrong, however, these group of children did not. Instead, they gossiped about him and when passed him, they also go in cliques making the boy feel even worse about his situation.
And in the poem, the phrase:
For those who do not belong
is used, this shows that the children do not care for the boy at all or may even discriminate him behind his back.I find the children very un-kind and mean.

Do I symphatise with the joker? (TEQA), What I learned from the lesson
I do sympathize with the joker as I feel that it is not fully to blame for what has happened to him and certain actions that he take let me see that he is not necessarily always the "bad guy" of the story.
In the comic 'Detective Comics' issue 168, they state that Joker was once a caring husband of a pregnant lady. As he had failed miserably at his job, he decided to turn to crime to support his family financially. But when he was planning for this crime, the police informed him that his wife and future child had died in a accident. This had scarred him emotionally and he wanted to back out of the crime but was not allowed to and had to go on with it.
But while they were carrying out the crime something happened and Batman who was investigating this case came, Joker panicked and jumped into a vat of chemicals to escape from the Batman. But after jumping in he became disfigured and looked like a clown. This hurt him deeply and drove him into insanity.
From then on he became the Joker and started committing crimes. I sympathize with him as he was willing to commit crimes for his family and his future child but ended up losing them which deeply scarred him. He was also disfigured when doing a crime which he did not want to do.
However, I do not support Joker's way of getting back at Batman. He may think that Batman was the cause of his disfiguration and may also blame Batman for the death of his family as Batman the so-called 'do-gooder' and 'hero' was not able to save his family. But it is not a good reason to endanger the lives of civilians, even though in the clip that was shown to us he did not kill any innocent people he did kill his accomplices.
This is back-stabbing and considered immoral, however this may benefit the society by getting rid of people who commit crimes, Gotham city may become a safer place, however many people do not see it that way and insult and discriminate him. These are the reasons that I sympathize with the Joker.
---
From this lesson, I learned that there is a lot more to writing a story than I thought there was, especially the description of characters.
Characters play a big role in stories by leaving first impressions and letting people understand more about the story and try to put themselves into the shoes of the character. This makes our stories more interesting and it will encourage the readers to read on.
