![]() Do I symphatise with the joker? (TEQA), What I learned from the lesson
I do sympathize with the joker as I feel that it is not fully to blame for what has happened to him and certain actions that he take let me see that he is not necessarily always the "bad guy" of the story. In the comic 'Detective Comics' issue 168, they state that Joker was once a caring husband of a pregnant lady. As he had failed miserably at his job, he decided to turn to crime to support his family financially. But when he was planning for this crime, the police informed him that his wife and future child had died in a accident. This had scarred him emotionally and he wanted to back out of the crime but was not allowed to and had to go on with it. But while they were carrying out the crime something happened and Batman who was investigating this case came, Joker panicked and jumped into a vat of chemicals to escape from the Batman. But after jumping in he became disfigured and looked like a clown. This hurt him deeply and drove him into insanity. From then on he became the Joker and started committing crimes. I sympathize with him as he was willing to commit crimes for his family and his future child but ended up losing them which deeply scarred him. He was also disfigured when doing a crime which he did not want to do. However, I do not support Joker's way of getting back at Batman. He may think that Batman was the cause of his disfiguration and may also blame Batman for the death of his family as Batman the so-called 'do-gooder' and 'hero' was not able to save his family. But it is not a good reason to endanger the lives of civilians, even though in the clip that was shown to us he did not kill any innocent people he did kill his accomplices. This is back-stabbing and considered immoral, however this may benefit the society by getting rid of people who commit crimes, Gotham city may become a safer place, however many people do not see it that way and insult and discriminate him. These are the reasons that I sympathize with the Joker. --- From this lesson, I learned that there is a lot more to writing a story than I thought there was, especially the description of characters. Characters play a big role in stories by leaving first impressions and letting people understand more about the story and try to put themselves into the shoes of the character. This makes our stories more interesting and it will encourage the readers to read on. |
